Australian writing translated into Chinese, 1954-1988 was published by Red Rooster Press in 1989. Ma Zuyi and Chen Zhengfa were both members of the Oceanic Literature Research Unit which was established at Anhui University in 1979. The Institute specialised in the translation of Oceanic literature into Chinese. They also conducted courses in Australian literature.
