'Farewell to judges and juries', 1956-1997

Component identifier:
Series 46
Content Summary:

Farewell to old England: a broadside history of early Australia by Hugh Anderson was first published by Rigby in 1964. It is a work of British verse or broadsides relating to convict transportation and early Australian settlement up to and including the goldfields era of the 1850s. Since its publication Anderson has continued to research and discover more material. The papers in this series indicate that he planned a second and revised edition of his earlier work with the title. 'The convict lament'. Galley proofs dated 1997 indicate another attempt at publishing under the title 'Farewell to judges and juries'. This edition has not yet been published.

The series consists of correspondence, drafts of chapters, bibliography, paste-up copies and galley proofs, copies of broadsides, notes and reference material and photocopies of journal articles.
