- Preserved in this Series are a number of complimentary letters from colleagues, readers and contacts, principally written in response to his retirement in 1978. Also included is a short signed recommendation for one of his books from Barry Humphries; a brief letter from John Passmore, containing some thoughts on morality; and three letters from his sister, Shirley, written in the early-mid 1970s.
