Content Summary:
In 1941 Forsyth joined the Department of Information (Victorian Branch) where he collected and compiled intelligence information from the three Service Intelligence Departments and the Department of External Affairs. He provided daily background bulletins to the national press and radio. This series contains his handwritten and typed background notes and analysis, Departmental memoranda, cable summaries and External Affairs weekly intelligence summaries. Forsyth added 1972 press clippings covering the accelerated release of war documents and the de-classification of United Kingdom documents with these war time papers.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library in several small instalments during the 1970s and 1980s and one large instalment after Forsyth's death in March 1993.
