In the early 1970s Forsyth did consultancy work for the Department of Foreign Affairs on an occasional basis. From 1971-73 he wrote 'Post-colonial Pacific' for the Australian Institute of International Affairs, it was revised from 1973-75 and considered by a number of publishers. Forsyth lodged the unpublished manuscript with the Library in 1981. The manuscript and working materials are included in this series. Following the 1973 Guam resolution the South Pacific Commission was absorbed by the South Pacific Conference and the Commission met in new form. This series includes Conference and Forum papers from the 1970s and 1980s, papers and notes on the 'de-colonisation' of the Pacific, a sizeable quantity of research papers, articles on individual French territories, general Pacific issues and a wide range of printed material and press clippings.
