Content Summary:

Correspondence received by McGuire from friends and associates, together with some carbon copies of drafts of replies. There is also a small amount of correspndence received by Frances McGuire after Paul McGuire's death.

Most of the correspondence was arranged in folders or envelopes, usually with a title. These files have been arranged roughly chronologically, interfiled with loose correspondence. Some of the correspondence files also contain other papers such as articles, notes, newspaper cuttings, drafts of talks and printed material.

Correspondents include Lewis Ambrose, Hugh Rain, R.G. Casey, Joan Counihan, John Grimwade, Paul Hasluck, Wilfrid Kent Hughes, Sir Edward Knox, Allen Mears, Stanis McGuire, R.G. Menzies, and Carol Robinson (Jackson).

Correspondence with publishers and literary agents is held in series 2. Other correspondence is held in series 6, 7, 11-13 and 17.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The collection was donated to the Library by Frances McGuire in 1980, 1984 and 1993. A small quantity of material from the 1980 instalment was purchased by the Library. Paul McGuire destroyed parts of his papers (particularly relating to the 1939-45 War) shortly before his death.
