Content Summary:
Diaries of McGuire, mostly written in notebooks. The level of detail in the diary entries is variable. Most are brief handwritten notes while others are considered, typescript records. The journals in folders 2 and 3 contain typescripts of diary entries, newspaper cuttings, photographs of Far Eastern Liaison Office staff, correspondence and other papers.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The collection was donated to the Library by Frances McGuire in 1980, 1984 and 1993. A small quantity of material from the 1980 instalment was purchased by the Library. Paul McGuire destroyed parts of his papers (particularly relating to the 1939-45 War) shortly before his death.
