Content Summary:

Molony has been a prolific letter writer and has retained a large collection of the letters received from friends during the course of his life and career. This correspondence is contained in this series.

Friends with whom Molony has had a long and close relationship include Ian Burns, Des O'Hagan (who was at the seminary with Molony in Werribee and also left the priesthood), Archbishop Frank Little and Geoff Lloyd. Correspondence with Des Hagan (1966-68), Manning Clark (1969-90) and Xavier Herbert (1978-83) was filed separately by Molony and these files have been retained and incorporated into the Library's arrangement of the correspondence into chronological order by year.
