- Molony's book, Eureka, is an account of the bloody uprising in 1854 of 200 gold diggers at the Eureka mine near Ballarat, in protest over government taxes. It was published by Viking, Melbourne, in 1984. Papers relating to this book are included in this series, and comprise correspondence, research material and a small amount of draft manuscript.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The bulk of the papers were acquired from John Molony in 1998, under the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme (TIAS). Three earlier small consignments were received from Molony - two donated in 1981 and 1985 and one acquired under the TIAS in 1989.
