Molony has long been a keen follower and supporter of Australian Rules Football, both in the ACT and nationally. Over the years he has been involved with the Australian National University Australian Rules Football Club (ANUARF), of which he was President, a committee member of the ACT Australian Football League (ACTAFL), the Belconnen Australian Football Club (BAFC), of which he has been President and Chairman, a committee member of the National Football League of Australia (NFLA), Chair of the National Competition Committee and a committee member of the ACT Academy of Sport.
The papers in this series comprise correspondence, minutes of meetings, reports, submissions, discussion papers, financial statements and newspaper cuttings relating to the various football organisations with which Molony has been involved.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The bulk of the papers were acquired from John Molony in 1998, under the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme (TIAS). Three earlier small consignments were received from Molony - two donated in 1981 and 1985 and one acquired under the TIAS in 1989.
