Molony has had a long involvement with the Dante Alighieri Society in Canberra, having been both a committee member and President. In 1990, the Italian Government honoured Molony with the award of Onorificenza Cavaliere OMRI, in recognition of his contribution to the interests of Italian culture.
Correspondence and committee papers relating to Molony's involvement with the Society are contained in this series, together with copies of the Society's newsletter.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The bulk of the papers were acquired from John Molony in 1998, under the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme (TIAS). Three earlier small consignments were received from Molony - two donated in 1981 and 1985 and one acquired under the TIAS in 1989.
