The series contains appointment diaries, notebooks, account books (used to record official expenses) and an address book. The entries in the diaries are usually brief, recording meetings, interstate travel and other official duties.

The notebooks appeared to have been used by Temby (in his capacity as Director of the Public Prosecutions) or his assistant to record news items, investigations, speeches and meetings.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated by Ian Temby to the Library under the Tax Incentives for the Arts Scheme in 1996.
