The British Empire Service League was established in England in the interwar period as the peak body of all dominion and colonial returned service organisations. Whilst stationed in London as Australian High Commissioner, White was elected to the League's Council in 1951, and served as Chairman from April 1953 to May 1956.
This series contains a short run of correspondence and reports relating to White's administration, together with resolutions of the League's 12th and 13th Biennial Conferences, held in 1953 and 1955.
Other papers concerning League activities are filed in Series 3.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The papers were donated to the Library by White's daughters in two consignments in January 1997 and March 1998, and together constitute an impressive record of White's varied and distinguished career as a pilot, politician, diplomat and writer.
