Christopher Hogwood, Elijah Moshinsky and Moffatt Oxenbould General Opera Correspondence and Press Clippings, 1972-2016
- Component identifier:
- Series
- Content Summary:
-
Eminent British conductor and Musicologist, Christopher Hogwood (1941-2014) first worked with Opera Australia in a concert performance of Mozart's La Clemenza do Tito in 1988. This led to an engagement of conduct the same opera in a new production by Göran Järvefelt in 1991. Järvefelt's death meant that the production was eventually directed by Moffatt Oxenbould - thus beginning a mutually stimulating and successful collaboration between Christopher Hogwood and Moffatt Oxenbould. The file contains cards, articles, letters and ephemera, including the order of service for the Service of Thanksgiving for Christopher Hogwood in London in March 2015.
Internationally renowned Australian director, Elijah Moshinsky first worked with the Australian Opera in 1976 in a new production of Wozzeck for the Adelaide Festival. Thereafter he has directed many operas in Australia, several during the period of Moffatt Oxenbould's Artistic Directorship of Opera Australia. A close friendship and bond between Elijah Moshinsky and Moffatt Oxenbould endures and the file contains cards, press clippings and copies of many Email letters between the two.
The other items in this box are files, press clippings, and general items of operatic interest relating to Moffatt Oxenbould, Opera Australia and Opera in general.
