- Content Summary:
- Kenneth W. Tribe AC had an association with The Australian Opera over many years. He took up the "caretaker" position of Management Co-ordinator after the departure of General Manager, Peter Hemmings, in 1979. In this role he led the search for a new General Manager and remained with the Company until Patrick Veitch took up the position in April 1981. Kenneth Tribe was also instrumental in forming the Australian Opera Benevolent Fund in 1980. In May 1992 he gave Moffatt Oxenbould this bundle of papers. On 23 March 2009 Moffatt and Kenneth met at a Memorial Service for the late Jean Battersby. Moffatt told Kenneth that he was preparing his own papers for The National Library and, with Kenneth's permission, he wished to include the Tribe Opera papers in this material. Kenneth Tribe gave permission and confirmed it at a subsequent meeting on 11 June 2009 at the office of lawyer, Kathy Grinberg.
