Eleonora de Cisneros (sometimes spelt Eleanora) was an American mezzo-soprano, born Eleanor Broadfoot in Brooklyn, New York, on 31 October or 1 November 1878. She debuted with the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1899. In 1901 she married Count Francois de Cisneros, a Cuban journalist, becoming Countess Eleonora de Cisneros. She sang regularly at Covent Garden from 1904 to 1908 and also at Oscar Hammerstein's Manhattan Opera House for two seasons from 1906 to 1908. In 1911 she performed in London and toured Australia with the Melba Opera Company. Cisneros toured the United States during World War I raising money for Liberty Bonds and the Red Cross, but her career suffered and she subsequently performed mainly in Europe in the 1920s, before returning to New York in 1929, when she became a singing teacher. She died on 3 February 1934. Link to catalogue record.
