Content Summary:
This consignment comprises eleven letters sent to Andrew Endrey from Hu Feng, Mei Zhi and their daughter Zhang Xiaofeng, accompanied by explanatory notes prepared by Andrew Endrey. In 1978, after a year of immersion language studies in Taiwan, Andrew started researching Hu Feng's published works at the University of Melbourne. Andrew wrote his first letter to Hu Feng in 1979 and received a response from his initial letter from Hu in November 1979. Within this collection, topics discussed include Hu Feng's literary works, theories and his health; Japanese writers Eguchi Kan (also known as Eguchi Kiyoshi) and Kaji Wataru; Lu Xun and his works. Andrew Endrey is an Associate Lecturer within Humanities at the University of Western Australia and also a professional translator.
