Memoir written by Douglas, unedited. 'Never Give Up: The Hell Hole: To Hell and Back: Through the Eyes of Douglas Wood: The Twenty-five Million Dollar Hostage in Iraq: A Story of Courage and Survival'. The memoir commences with Douglas' capture by Iraqi terrorists 30 April 2005, and captivity until 15 June 2005. It includes Douglas' reconstruction of efforts in Iraq and Australia to rescue him (unknown to him until after his rescue). Following are reminiscences of Douglas' childhood in Sale and Geelong, Victoria, which he used during his captivity as 'mind games' to help keep him sane. The memoir continues with lengthy reminiscences of Douglas' adulthood in Geelong and Melbourne, then Minnesota and California, U.S.A., and an account of his consultancy work as an engineer and project manager in several Eastern European countries in the 1990s and early 2000s. Ending the memoir are accounts of Douglas' rescue from captivity in Iraq on 15 June 2005, repatriation to Melbourne and the fate of both the captors and the soldiers who rescued him (and their families). By chapter, unknown page length.
