Apart from some postcards, mostly acquired in 1918-1919, the photographs are of Latham and his friends and colleagues. There is a small album of photographs taken on a camping holiday at Mount Buffalo in 1906-1907, the 1907 Australian lacrosse team, cricket photographs, and many photographs of holidays at Waterfall Farm, near Khancoban.
There are many family photographs in Series 10 and there are also photographs in Series 12, 20, 21, 30, 52, 56, 58, 68, 71 and 75.
Also included are some Christmas cards and copper plates for Latham's name cards (1910s-1920s).
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The bulk of the collection was presented to the National Library by Sir John Latham in December 1963, a few months before his death. In November 1974 the Library purchased some further papers from a secondhand book dealer. They comprised family letters and photographs, some diaries and papers relating to the High Court. These papers have been amalgamated into the original collection.
