This small series consists mostly of newscuttings on the Australian Labor Party, its conferences, preselection of candidates, and its relations with trade unions and communism, taken from the Age, Argus, Sydney Morning Herald and Industrial Australian and Mining Standard (October 1925-July 1928). There are also reports of the New South Wales Labor Council (1924-1925), typescript notes on the New South Wales Labor Party (August 1929) and some booklets.
Comprises Files 1-2 (Items 1-31). Newscuttings in Folder 2 have not been assigned item numbers.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The bulk of the collection was presented to the National Library by Sir John Latham in December 1963, a few months before his death. In November 1974 the Library purchased some further papers from a secondhand book dealer. They comprised family letters and photographs, some diaries and papers relating to the High Court. These papers have been amalgamated into the original collection.
