This small series contains correspondence dating from February 1932-October 1934, three reports by Andrew Cairns to the Empire Marketing Board on his travels in Western Siberia, the Volga region, Ukraine, Crimea and Caucasus in June-August 1932, and a report of a visit by Captain H. J. Feakes to China and Japan in July 1933.
Other papers on Latham's activities as Minister for External Affairs are contained in Series 56-58.

- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The bulk of the collection was presented to the National Library by Sir John Latham in December 1963, a few months before his death. In November 1974 the Library purchased some further papers from a secondhand book dealer. They comprised family letters and photographs, some diaries and papers relating to the High Court. These papers have been amalgamated into the original collection.
