Content Summary:

This small series contains details of procedure and correspondence concerning the swearing in of Sir Winston Dugan as Administrator of the Commonwealth in September 1944, and the opening of the Federal Parliament in November 1946, February 1950, and June 1951. There is also a document signed by the Duke of Gloucester appointing Latham his deputy for the purpose of opening Parliament in November 1946.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The bulk of the collection was presented to the National Library by Sir John Latham in December 1963, a few months before his death. In November 1974 the Library purchased some further papers from a secondhand book dealer. They comprised family letters and photographs, some diaries and papers relating to the High Court. These papers have been amalgamated into the original collection.
