The series comprises a copy of Symon's will and codicil, trust deeds, miscellaneous accounts, invoices and receipts, correspondence concerning the purchase of a car in England in 1909, notes made for staff concerning the daily running of his residence 'Manoah', a Commonwealth life rail pass, photographs and a folder of press cuttings.
Also includes some miscellaneous papers belonging to Lady Symon and her daughter, Kilmeny Symon.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- The papers were received by the Library between 1966 and 1968 from Sir Josiah Symon's literary executor and daughter, Miss L. K. (Kilmeny) Symon. In December 1980 Sir Josiah's Commonwealth railway life pass was donated to the Library by the State Library of South Australia on behalf of a donor who was living in the house previously owned by Kilmeny Symon and had found the pass in a crack in the flooring.
