Content Summary:
In May 1962 Sawer travelled to Nigeria where he was employed as a private counsel to the Nigerian Government on the dual constitutional questions of the establishment of a fourth province in the west of the country (later Benin), and the foundation of a state bank. Included in this series are draft and typescript opinions prepared by Sawer, as well as correspondence, notes, judgments, legislation and other papers relating to the two cases.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library by Sawer and his wife Nancy in four instalments in 1971, 1995, 1996 and 1998.
