Content Summary:
In about 1969, Sawer prepared a submission outlining his position on the desirability of self-government for the Australian Capital Territory, its possible form and potential impediments to implementation. The paper was tendered to the ACT Advisory Council Committee on Self-Government for the ACT, which had been established to advise the Federal Government on matters of self-administration for the territory. The draft paper filed in this series includes Sawer's advice on legal aspects of the self-government question.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library by Sawer and his wife Nancy in four instalments in 1971, 1995, 1996 and 1998.
