Unpublished autobiographical writings, 1971-1995

Component identifier:
Series 18
Content Summary:
In 1971, Sawer prepared a 23 page typescript biography outlining the main aspects of his life. In retirement in 1987 he embarked on an expanded manuscript, written principally for distribution to members of his family. The 56 chapters were prepared one at a time under the title 'A partly reliable memoir', and read at the monthly meetings of a local creative writers group. Continuing ill health prevented planned revision of the manuscript, which Sawer was unable to work on after 1995.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library by Sawer and his wife Nancy in four instalments in 1971, 1995, 1996 and 1998.
