Content Summary:

Most of the photographs in the Copland Papers are in this series. They include two albums, one resulting from Copland's overseas trip in 1926, sundry portrait and group photos, a number of his homes at the University of Melbourne and at Mt Macedon, and of presentations of honorary degrees.

There are also photographs in Series 3 (Family papers), Series 16 (New Zealand, 1907-17), Series 18 (University of Melbourne), Series 33 (Ambassador to China, 1946-1948) and Series 34 (Australian National University), Series 38 (United Nations General Assembly, 1948), Series 40 (Australian Administrative Staff College, 1956-1960) and Series 42 (Trade Commissioner to Canada, 1960), and the 1977-1981 additions.

The National Library's Pictures Branch has some engravings, cartoon originals, and original press photographs transferred from the collection.

Immediate source of acquisition:
Lady Copland presented the personal papers of Sir Douglas Copland to the National Library in September 1973. Additions to the collection were received from the Copland Family between 1977 and 1981.
