Content Summary:
This series contains a variety of correspondence, papers, and newspaper clippings relating to Copland's work with the Bank of New South Wales from 1931-1933. There is a large amount of correspondence in this Series between Copland and high-ranking members of the Bank of N.S.W., such as R.C. Addison, A.C. Davidson, and J.S. Campbell concerning Copland's advice and outlooks on interest rates, reconstruction, and other important economic issues of the early 1930s. Other main correspondents are B. Rouch, K. Belbridge, and T.B. Heffer. There are also several Bank of N.S.W. circulars dating from 1931-1939. Folder 2 contains Economic reports by A.H.B. Fitzhardinge on the Economic and Banking issues of the time. There are also several Reports of the Directors of the Bank of N.S.W to the Ordinary General Meeting of the Proprietors dating from 1929-1933.
Immediate source of acquisition:
Lady Copland presented the personal papers of Sir Douglas Copland to the National Library in September 1973. Additions to the collection were received from the Copland Family between 1977 and 1981.
