The Institute of Educational Research, Victoria was founded in 1929 (under the auspices of the Carnegie Corporation) and was known initially as the National Institute of Education of Victoria. Its first President was L.J. Wrigley. Copland was a foundation member of the Institute.
The few papers Copland accumulated as a member are in Series 61. They consist of circulars, minutes, correspondence, and a copy of the Institute's constitution.
A copy of the fourth Frank Tate Memorial Lecture that Copland delivered under the auspices of the Institute in 1957 is in Series 40. It was entitled, Administrative staff training: a new frontier in education (F.W Cheshire, 1957).
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- Lady Copland presented the personal papers of Sir Douglas Copland to the National Library in September 1973. Additions to the collection were received from the Copland Family between 1977 and 1981.
