The Australian Commonwealth Engineering Standards Association and the Australian Commonwealth Association of Simplified Practice combined in 1929 to form the Standards Association of Australia (S.A.A.). Copland was a member of the S.A.A.'s Simplified Practice Division Committee and in 1930 represented the University of Melbourne on the S.A.A.'s Victorian State Committee.
Series 72 contains papers that Copland received in these two roles during 1929 and 1930. There are a few letters from S.A.A. officials, such as J. McAuliffe and E. Bartlett, S.A.A. bulletins, circulars and reports, such as 'Elimination of waste - simplified practice in Australia', copies of standards and agenda for meeting of the Simplified Practice Division Committee, and the Victorian State Committee.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- Lady Copland presented the personal papers of Sir Douglas Copland to the National Library in September 1973. Additions to the collection were received from the Copland Family between 1977 and 1981.
