Victorian Committee for Industrial Design, 1962-1963

Component identifier:
Series 73
Content Summary:

The Victorian Committee for Industrial Design was formed in July 1962 to improve the standard of industrial design and, in particular, to organise an industrial design exhibition. Copland was the Committee's first Chairman.

Series 73 relates almost entirely to relations between the Victorian Committee and the Industrial Design Council of Australia, (I.D.C.A.) and in particular to the formation of a State Committee of the Council in Victoria separate from the Committee. These and the organisation of a survey of industrial design are documented by Copland's correspondence with Committee officials I. Newton-John, A.L. Paltridge and I.D.C.A. Chairman, Walter Scott. The series also includes agenda for some committee meetings and a copy of its Memorandum of Association.

Immediate source of acquisition:
Lady Copland presented the personal papers of Sir Douglas Copland to the National Library in September 1973. Additions to the collection were received from the Copland Family between 1977 and 1981.
