Miscellaneous clubs and societies

Component identifier:
Series 88
Content Summary:

In addition to the clubs, societies and organisations with which Copland was associated as member, official, or patron and that have warranted separate series, there were a good number of others that he either belonged to or on which he collected material. They are not well documented in the Copland Papers and in many cases only one or two letters are all that exists to indicate Copland's connection with them. This type of ephemeral material constitutes Series 88.

The groups represented are: Australian and New Zealand Congress for International Cooperation and Disarmament; Australian Club; Australian College of Education; Australian Institute of Management; Boobooks; Institute of Public Affairs; Japan-Australia Society; Lady Northcote Permanent Orchestra Trust Fund; Melbourne Club; National Trust of Australia; New Education Fellowship; New Zealand Association; Newcommen Society; St. Duthus Parents' Association; Shillings Club; Town and Country Union; Victorian Society for Crippled Children; Wyvern Society.

Immediate source of acquisition:
Lady Copland presented the personal papers of Sir Douglas Copland to the National Library in September 1973. Additions to the collection were received from the Copland Family between 1977 and 1981.
