Subject Files, 1917-1967

- Series 90
- Content Summary:
-
Throughout his life, but in particular at the University of Melbourne, Copland stored his raw material for lectures, articles, addresses, and books in subject files. Often they included correspondence, but normally contained no more than cuttings, printed items, and notes. All of the subject files in the Copland papers as received by the National Library have been arranged alphabetically by title and assembled to form Series 90. An undated list of 'File Headings' matching numbered drawers to particular files begins the series. Only in the few cases where subjects form the basis of other series or subseries, eg. Series 20, have subject files been excluded from Series 90. Subject files made up entirely by newspaper cuttings are in Series 12.
