Content Summary:

Biography of E.J. Banfield published by the University of Queensland Press in 1983 and 1986. The biography was first conceived by Noonan as an outline for a 60 minute documentary film (see series 8/54-64) based on Banfield's book The confessions of a beachcomber. In 1980 Noonan was awarded an Australia Council one year fellowship to write the biography. Noonan also wrote a stage play based on the biography (series 9/5-16).

The papers comprise research materials, notebooks, manuscript and typescript drafts, illustrations, and correspondence.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were acquired by the Library from Michael Noonan in three instalments in 1979, 1992 and 1998.
