It now contains the words 'Top, off one's' and 'Top off, to'. A preface has been added by the author. The book was issued with a double dust-jacket.

With a long series of autograph notes by Hal Gye. He writes that the frontispiece to the book was drawn from a small dwelling near to the artist's home at Flemington with the caption: 'When we parts at the gate'. Here he also drew the illustrations for The bloke, and not in Low's studio as previously recorded. For the original drawings he received one guinea each, and for the dust-jacket the fee was five guineas. Gye asked for the return of the drawings which was granted. When he married George Robertson sent him 50 pounds. Gye sold all the drawings, with the exception of one which he presented to Dennis.
