Content Summary:
Bound in are extra leaves upon which are laid down the original printer's proofs of the illustrations and the initial letters. All are inscribed by Hal Gye. The coloured plate lacks the caption. Inscribed: 'Dear Harry Chaplin: George Robertson was very pleased with the pen drawings in this book, so was 'Den'. Forgive my skite! The gypsy 'vi'lits' used to grow down at the bottom of 'Den's' place, just below the race - a stream of purest water, and Mrs Dennis was always saying, 'Aren't they lovely Hal!' Hal Gye, January 1952.'
