'Dear Harry Chaplin: There's nothing much to say about this book...no excitement - no reams, just plodding...'Den' wrote this book because he felt it his duty to write one book a year and make a lot of money, not just because he felt like writing it. I forget how the book went. We didn't have the fun with it we had with The Glugs of Gosh...Digger Smith made no dint in my memory for remembrance. Hal Gye, September 1952'. With pen drawing of the author and 'Den' playing tennis, with snakes and rabbits looking on, with caption, 'We must get on with Digger Smith tomorrow, Hal'.
