Content Summary:
Includes photocopies of primary materials, newspaper cuttings, photographs, publications (including annual reports of the General Manager of State Coal Mines, 1910-35), research notes and some drafts. The research materials were used for Reeves' masters thesis 'Industrial men, mines and politics in Wonthaggi, 1909-1968' (La Trobe University 1977) as well as a 1981 Commonwealth Labour History Conference paper 'Damned Scotsmen: British migrants and the Australian coal industry'. Includes correspondence with Eric Fry, 1980-83, concerning the publication of the paper in Common cause: essays in Australian and New Zealand labour history (1986).
Immediate source of acquisition:
The collection was donated to the Library by Andrew Reeves under the Tax Incentives for the Arts Scheme in 1993 and 2000.
