- Ball was involved with the Press over a long period, beginning in about 1956. Gwyn James, who was also a lecturer in History at the University of Melbourne, nominated Ball for election to the board. Ball later replaced James and was chairman of the Press for the last few years of his official involvement. In later years, he advised the Press on manuscripts submitted for publication. The main correspondents in these files are Norman Harper and Peter Ryan.
