Content Summary:
In December 1960 Fitzpatrick was invited to join the National Organising Committee of the ALP, which was working towards the general election of 1961. The series consists of a small amount of correspondence with F. E Chamberlain, F. Crean, C. S Wyndham, P. J Kennelly and J. A Mulvihill concerning the committee; a copy of the ALP federal platform adopted at the federal conference in 1961; papers from 1961 annual conference of the NSW branch of the party; a report prepared by Wyndham in 1961 entitled Notes on the election results 1951-58 (State of Victoria); and press cuttings.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The National Library received the bulk of the papers of Brian Fitzpatrick from his widow, Mrs Dorothy Fitzpatrick, during 1975 and 1976. Papers added as Series 2(d) and 2(e), and added to Series 1(d), 2(c), 10 and 13(m), were received in 2001 together with the papers of Dorothy Fitzpatrick. This material was received from the Fitzpatrick's children, Professor Sheila Fitzpatrick and Professor David Fitzpatrick.
