- Giurgola was renowned for the quality of his drawing, and was part of the last generation of architects who worked exclusively with hand drawn designs and plans, rather than use modern computer aided design (CAD) systems. He also worked in a range of media, including pencil, ink, pastel and watercolour, on surfaces such as tracing paper, vellum, mylar film and heavy rag paper. This selection of tools and materials were kept on his desk and used by him right through to the end of his life.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- This collection arrived at the National Library in multiple consignments. The first consignment arrived in 2022 and comprises Boxes 1-47. The second consignment arrived in 2023 and comprises Boxes 48-66 and Rolls 1-28. Photographic material was also received with the second consignment; this material has not yet been processed and is not yet reflected in the collection's finding aid.
