Content Summary:
Newspaper clippings documenting architectural firms and projects Giurgola was associated with. Mostly from the United States but also includes some Italian and Australian sources. Topics include Pennsylvania houses, Giurgola's work as a teacher, projects for various American universities, the Liberty Bell Pavilion in Philadelphia, Westlake Mall in Seattle, Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial Centre in North Carolina. Some contain detailed critical reviews of specific urban and architectural projects, and others record special events such as official openings, anniversaries, or events at which Giurgola was a special guest.
Immediate source of acquisition:
This collection arrived at the National Library in multiple consignments. The first consignment arrived in 2022 and comprises Boxes 1-47. The second consignment arrived in 2023 and comprises Boxes 48-66 and Rolls 1-28. Photographic material was also received with the second consignment; this material has not yet been processed and is not yet reflected in the collection's finding aid.
