Comprises correspondence, personal documents, appointment books, invitations, cuttings, reports, programs dating back to the 1930s, and music scores with his markings and annotations. There are no papers from the Melbourne and Sydney periods of his career. However, his Queensland appointment with the State String Quartet, and his Canberra appointments, as director of the Canberra School of Music, and as musical director and conductor of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, are well documented. There are also papers from his year in America on the William Kapell Memorial Scholarship in 1956, and from invitations as an "honored guest" and later a juror at the International Tchaikovsky Competition held in Moscow in 1974 and 1978.

The papers were donated to the Library by Mrs Ruth Llewellyn in 1990 and 1994 An addition of papers relating to pianist Hephzibah Menuhin (Series 23) was donated to the Library by Mrs Ruth Llewellyn in 2001.
