- Images are of the Wood brothers - Don Norman Wood, Don Guillermo (Bill) Wood and Wallace Wood, three of the sons of William and Lillian Wood who arrived in Paraguay in 1895. Norman Wood was living in northern Pasraguay and travelled with photographer Peter Solness to meet his brother Wallace in Cosme. Don Guillermo (Bill) Wood was the only surviving member of the colony who was born in Australia and travelled as a baby with his parents to Paraguay. Wallace Wood was living in Cosme but passed away 5 hours before Norman Wood and Peter Solness went to meet him in Cosme. Also included images of Rod McLeod, the last surviving son of the original colonists still living at Cosmo, photographed with his grandson on the colony, Walter Escobar.--Information from acquisitions documentation.
