Content Summary:

General correspondence mainly of a business nature. Includes letters relating to photographic orders from private individuals and business organisations; payment for reproduction fees; requests for photographs for publication in magazines such as the Australasian Photo-Review, Photograms of the Year, The Home and Art in Australia and letters relating to exhibitions in Australia and overseas. Many of the letters are highly complimentary of Cazneaux's work.

The correspondents include Julian Ashton, Keast Burke, Walter Burke, Leon Gellert, Hans Heysen, Raynor Hoff, Nellie Melba, Norman Lindsay, Margaret Preston, Dr Julian Smith, Sydney Ure Smith, Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, London Salon of Photography and the Victorian Salon of Photography.

The series also includes manuscript notes by Cazneaux on the pictorial photographs that he included in his solo exhibition in 1909 (See Folder 4).

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were presented to the Library in 1991 by Mrs Joan Smith, Cazneaux's youngest daughter.
