Content Summary:

In 1970, Epstein wrote and produced a musical melodrama entitled 'Captain Chook' for a performance by students at the Melbourne Kindergarten Teachers' College. In 1978 it was produced by Dorothy Rickards, with the new title of 'A paltry affair', for a performance by the Ravens Players of Glen Iris.

In 1982, Epstein signed an agreement with Yackandandah Playscripts for publication of the work, but this did not proceed.

This series contains a small group of papers relating to the musical.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were acquired in instalments from June Epstein. Two larger instalments were received in 1994 and 1999 and three smaller ones in 1993, 1994 and 1996.
