- Including letters from Gifford's family, friends, colleagues and associates. Early letters largely relate to Gifford's studies at university, his poetry and his experiences during World War II, stationed in Melbourne with the Australian Army Medical Corps. Later files document Gifford's activities as a member of the Institute of Municipal Management, International Bar Association, Local Government Planning Association, Rotary Club, The Scots' Church (Melbourne) Board of Trustees and other groups. There are also numerous letters of congratulation relating to various highlights of Gifford's legal career.
- Immediate source of acquisition:
- Papers relating to the 1998 Constitutional Convention (now Series 8) were donated to the Library by Gifford in 1998. The remainder of the collection was donated by Gifford in 2002.
