Correspondence of approval for Sergeant Major Kari to leave New Guinea to enter Australia and return to New Guinea. Letters from Paul Hasluck who was the Minister for Territories and A. A. Roberts. Extensive records and correspondence encompassing the very detailed procedures that had to be followed to allow a local person to leave New Guinea to enter Australia in 1959. Sergeant Major Kari was permitted to enter Australia for the book launch of " Fear Drive My Feet ".
Immediate source of acquisition:
The original consignment was purchased by the Library from Peter Ryan in December 2003. Further papers were received in 2012, 2022 and 2023.
