Content Summary:

The series contains correspondence relating to the Commonwealth Bank (1912); the issuing of Commonwealth bank notes; the raising of war loans; the proposed Public Debts Commission; land tax legislation and some statistical material. Correspondents include the Commonwealth Bank's first Governor, Sir Denison Miller, the Commissioner of Land Tax, G. A. McKay, representatives of the major private banks, and some of the State Premiers, such as J. S. McGowen and Sir Alexander Peacock.

Two publications on the Commonwealth Bank can be found in Series 13, and a photo album (1915) on the construction of the Commonwealth Bank central office building, Sydney, is in Series 12.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library in several instalments by Fisher's family between 1961 and 1990.
