Content Summary:

The series includes a large variety of personal material, such as illuminated addresses, name cards, commemorative booklets, testimonials, engagement diaries, invitations, menus and souvenir programs. The invitations, many of which have been gathered into an album, pertain to official functions and dinners which Fisher attended, and include those connected with the opening of first Australian Parliament (1901), his attendance at the Royal Coronations (1902, 1911), and the visit to Australia of the United States Fleet in 1908.

Personal items belonging to other Fisher family members include Margaret Fisher's visitors book (1916-1919); an unsigned typescript copy of her will; Robert Fisher's autograph book (1911-1935) and a miner's right belonging to Fisher's brother, James (1889).

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were donated to the Library in several instalments by Fisher's family between 1961 and 1990.
